Gouging/ Metal removal by gouging arc® process is essentially a progressive melting of metal by using Gouging Holders of gouging arc® & Carbon Electrodes and simultaneously blowing away the melted metal by high velocity jets of compressed air directed at the point of the arc coming out of the gouging arc® Gouging Holder.

This process is extensively used in foundries. It is used to remove defects from casting and it has found applicationas a method for washing off excess metal such as pads remaining when gates and risers are cut from Casting. Thisprocess has replaced grinding, chipping, and oxy-acetylene gouging in some instances.
